The S&P 500 breaks 4700 and 10 Year Treasury yield falls below 4% after Federal Reserve's dot plot implies 3 rate cuts in 2024 compared to 2 in September. The markerts are now pricing in as many as 6 rate cuts by the Fed in 2024 according to Bloomberg . Investors are now betting on the success of the Fed's attempt to engineer a soft landing for the US economy.

The S&P 500 is now at its most overbought level in over 2 years (CCI is at 263 level). Even though the market trend is up but it may need time to digest the recent gains before moving higher. The likely scenario would be that the stock market trades in narrow range in the next few day then rally during the Christmas week into year end. S&P 500's next target to attack is its all time high at 4818 level. Market strategy is to hold stocks (not buy) now and wait for more rally to come. Sectors likely to perform better in the next rally are: Crypto currency (BITO, GBTC), small cap (IWM), biotech (IBB), us treasuries (TLT), energy (XLE), gold stocks (GDX ) and regional banks (KRE).

Investors will look for clues in the policymakers' projections in the dot plot and in Chair Jerome Powell's language during his post-meeting press conference.

Oil prices dropping to 6 month lows on over supply and demand concerns. Russian crude exports jumped to the highs since July and oversupply concerns and growing doubt on the recent output cut agreement by OPEC+.

Bitcoin has corrected down to near $40000 support and is bouncing back up. It may be a good time to buy back in Bitcoin and related stocks.

Bank of America says small caps stock 'still cheap' despite rally. Russell 2000 forward PE increased to 13.5 in November from 12.3 in October, but it is still cheap compare with forward PE for mid/large cap and mega cap at 21% and 27 % respectively.

Pfizer (PFE) lost 8.6% after the company announced lower-than-expected guidance for 2024, including the impact of its new acquisition target Seagen (SGEN). Tesla (TSLA) recalls over 2 million EVs to fix faulty Autopilot. TSLA is down 1.67%.

Bitcoin dropped over $4500 in the last couple of days afer hitting a high of $44729 in a sharp correction with no negative news. It is now trading near $41400. The sharp correction is bullish for further gains.

Oracle (ORCL) falls 10.5%% after Q2 revenue miss; Jefferies says execution risk is increasing. JP Morgan says Apple (AAPL -0.19%) told suppliers to build fewer iPhone 15s over the coming months. Alphabet (GOOG -0.71%) slips as Google loses antitrust case against Fortnite's maker Epic. RBC says a "crowded" rally in "Magnificent 7 "is "in need of a pause".

US stock market was down earlier and has now turn positive. After moving above its July high 4607 resistance, the S&P 500 is holding steady above that level this morning. The S&P 500's next two reistances are 4700 then 4818 all time high. Federal Reserve is to make decision on interest rate tomorrow and no hike is expected by the market. If there is no surprise during chairman Powell's speak after the meeting, the stock market is likely to continue with the year end rally.

Arkhouse Management and Brigade Capital Management have offered to buy Macy's Inc.(M) for $5.8 billion, according to people familiar with the matter. The offer values the retailer at $21 per share, compared to the company's most recent close at just over $17 per share. M is up 19%.

US stock market is mixed today with "Magnificient 7" stocks down but Dow and SP500 are up. The market rally is broadening from tech stocks to other sectors and is good for the market. The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index is just 1.7% away from its all time high at 36952. SP500 just broke above its July high resistance 4607. Today's US Stock Market

U.S. nonfarm payrolls increased by 199K in November, topping the +180K expected and increasing from 150K in October, which was unrevised from its initial release. U Mich inflation expectations (one year ahead) collapsed to 3.1% in preliminary December data after soaring to 4.5 % in November. Medium-term inflation expectations also tumbled from 3.2% to 2.8%. Treasury ETF TLT is down 1.25% and 10 year yield rises to 4.247%.

Bernstein analyst Toni Sacconaghi is promoting short Tesla (TSLA) stock as Berstein's "best idea for 2024" seeing nerly 40% down from the current level. Analyst has an Underweight rating on TSLA and a $150 per share price target. TSLA is up 0.47% .

The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is actively assessing the nature of Microsoft's (MSFT) collabboration with OpenAI, the regulator said today. The CMA is examining whether this partnership, or any modifications to it, has given rise to a pertinent merger scenario as outlined in the Enterprise Act 2002. MSFT is up 0.33%.

Broadcom (AVGO) Non-GAAP EPS of $11.06 beats by $0.10, revenue of $9.3B beats by $20M, issued its outlook for 2024 on Thursday, anticipating $50B in revenue and EBITDA margins of 60%. And while the company acknowledged some cyclical Slowness in its broadband and storage semiconductor businesses, Wall Street believes the Hock Tan-led company should see strength in the back half of the year. AVGO is down 0.74%. 

Today's strong non-farm payroll report hurts lower interest rate trend, however collapsing inflation expectation helps. This confusion is causing the market fluctuates up and down this morning, but major indexes are stable. My impressions with the state of the market are as follows:

1. After strong rally since late October, both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite are facing resistances at July highs. They are not easy to overcome.

2. Fed is expected to stay put with interest rate next week as the market has been expecting. No big surprise is expected. Sell on news is a high prosperity.

3. AAII's bearish sentiment is at 6 year low, this extreme bullishness is not healthy for the market near term.

4. US stocks are on an uptrend, however, it needs a rest possibly in the form of a downside retracement before going higher.

Today's US Stock Market 12/7/2023

Google (GOOG) launched Ai tool Gemini, stock is up 5%. Advance Micro Devices (AMD) unveiled its latest AI accelerator Instinct MI300X, which has drawn several analysts' positive reactions. Raymon James reiterated strong buy and raised AMD price from $125 to $140. AMD is up 7%.

The strength of both GOOG and AMD have led a strong tech stock rally this morning. The Nasdaq Composite is up over 1.10%, the S&P 500 is up 0.6% while the Dow trading flatline to down is the weakest. The near 1 1/2 month rally have driven both the Nasdaq and S&P 500 very close to their July highs 4607 and 14446 resistances. With the AAII bearish sentiment at 6 year low indicating extreme optimism, and major index facing stiff resistances, it is going to be hard for the indexes to breakout. Even though stock market is up strongly today, the stable Fear Gauge VIX/UVXY is reflecting investors concern. Further consolidation/retracement to digest recent gain is needed for the stock market before a Christmas rally.

A protracted downturn in China's real estate sector as well as a broader economic deceleration, but most of all downside risks from China's record debt load which is now well over 300% of GDP has led Moody's Investors Service to downgrade China's sovereign credit rating outlook from stable to negative. the Shanghai and Hangsheng indexes were down 1.67% and 1.97% respectively overnight.

US job openings slide to 8.7 million in October, well below estimate of 9.8 million, to lowest level since March 2021. Treasuries ETF TLT reacted positively by going up 1.58% while 10 year yield is down to 4.189%, a recent low.

Goldman Sachs: Tesla and AAPL are the top 2 stocks that are most underweighted holdings by top 30 mutual funds. However, TSLA and AAPL are up 3% and 2.3% respectively.

Today's stock market indexes are trading mixed with Nasdaq up and Dow, S&P 500 and Russell 2000 down. Major tech stocks are up due to oversold bounce and lower treasury yields. After over a month of rally, both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq are near their July high resistances 4607 and 14446. There will not be any meaningful rally without breaking these reistances. The general stock market trend is up, however it needs to consolidate near term before Christmas rally.

European Inflation was at 2.4% in Nov vs 2.9% in Oct, underlying price grow also down. Goldman Sachs economists are betting on April rate cut from European Central Bank. On the other hand, US Federal Reserve rate cut odd is now 44% in May 2024.

US Treasury ETF TLT is up a strong 1.61% and 10 year Treasury yield drops to 4.220%.

Lower interest rate expectation and year end seasonal strength have help the US stock market today with small cap Russell 2000 up 2.5%, Dow up 0.68%, S&P 500 up 0.5% and Nasdaq up 0.43%. Investors seem to take profits on tech stocks and rotating capital to other sectors. Strong sectors are regional banks (KRE +4.79%), retails (XRT +3.19%), transportations (IYT +2.56%), basic materials (IYM +1.6%) and gold (GLD +1.54%).  US stock market rally is broadening which is bullish.

US stock market trend is up. Major market indexes looks ready to challenge their all time highs. All time high levels for Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composte are 36952, 4818 and 16212 respectively.

SEC just confirmed it met with Grayscale for the second time yesterday to discuss converting the Grayscale Trust into a #Bitcoin ETF.  SEC also met with BlackRock on Wednesday regarding their Bitcoin ETF application. Looks like Bitcoin ETF approvals are inevitable. Bitcoin rallies strongly today and broke above $38000 level solidly and next target is $50000.
