As specified in Pi's White Paper, Pi's mission is to build a cryptocurrency and smart contracts platform secured and operated by everyday people. Pi's vision is to build the world’s most inclusive peer-to-peer marketplace, fueled by Pi, the world’s most widely used cryptocurrency. These goals are getting very close to reality. Pi can be mined free using a cell phone.
Pi accomplishments so far:
1. Enclosed Mainnet was released and operational on December 28, 2021. The next step is to KYC users (identity verification) before going to Opened Mainnet. Opened Mainnet is projected to go online on March 14, 2021 or June 28, 2021 or later depending on the readiness of the network. Once the Opened Mainnet goes live, users should be able to transfer Pi to others, use Pi to purchase goods and services and Pi will be traded in exchanges where users can exchange Pi for other cryptos and fiat currencies.
2. Number of Pi miners has reached 30 millions and is increasing by the tens of thousand per day. The goal is to cap the number of Pi miners at 100 millions as mentioned in Pi White Paper. There has not been any crypto currency with this large a user base before it goes public. As a comparison, there are only about 106 millions crypto currency users world wide. With its large user base and talents in it, giving time, numerous apps in the network will likely make Pi become one of the most popular coin in the crypto world.
3. Pi transaction speed is several thousands per second. In comparison, you can expect a Bitcoin transaction to take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour to finalize while Ethereum is currently stand at between 10 to 15 seconds per transaction.
