U.S. President Donald Trump said trade negotiations with China were progressing and a final agreement “will probably happen,” adding that his call for tariffs to remain on Chinese imported goods for some time did not mean talks were in trouble. Trump, in a television interview aired on Friday, also said he expected to keep a 25 percent tariff on European light trucks amid separate ongoing trade talks with the European Union, but that companies could avoid it by building factories in the United States.---Reuters

IHS Markit's Purchasing Managers' Index for German manufacturing sank to 44.7, the lowest level since 2012 and below economists' median estimate of 48. ---Seeking Alpha

German 10-year Bund yields dropped below zero for the first time in more than two years after German manufacturing contracted further, compounding fears of an economic slowdown across the euro area. In the U.K., Theresa May plans a third vote on her Brexit deal next week. ---Bloomberg

The European Union decided to give the United Kingdom an extension on negotiating an exit from the EU - but it won't be a long reprieve if UK Prime Minister Theresa May can't get a win in Parliament. European Council President Donald Tusk said Article 50 would be extended to May 22 if Parliament can reach a withdrawal agreement next week; but failing that, the deadline is extended only to April 12.
