Major US stock indexes tried to bounce at the open as oversold market drawing in buyers, however they have now turned down. Bounces in semiconductor and biotech sectors are helping, however weakness in Google (GOOG), Amazon (AMZN) and Facebook (FB) are dragging (anti-trust investigation into these stocks are bring these stock down sharply). The market may be oversold but US trade wars with China and Mexico and raising tariff on products from India are damaging to global economic growth while all major market indexes are below their important 200 day moving averages are causing major technical damage. Pressure is coming in from all fronts, stock market trend is solidly down, strategy is sell on rallies.

。New Chinese tariffs of up to 25% have been imposed on $60bn (£46bn) worth of US goods. The tariffs, which came into force at midnight in Beijing on 1 June, are in retaliation for the US doubling tariffs on $200bn of Chinese goods in May.---BBC

。Mexico’s president on Saturday hinted his country could tighten migration controls to defuse U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to impose tariffs on Mexican goods, and said he expected “good results” from talks planned in Washington next week. A major Mexican delegation led by Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard will discuss the dispute with U.S. officials in Washington on Wednesday, and Lopez Obrador said he expected “good results” from the talks, and for a deal to emerge. ---Reuters

。The U.S. president lashed out on Twitter on Sunday morning, calling Mexico an “abuser of the United States, taking but never giving,” and repeating his tariff threats. He doubled down a few hours later. “Mexico is sending a big delegation to talk about the Border. Problem is, they’ve been ‘talking’ for 25 years,” Trump wrote. “We want action, not talk. They could solve the Border Crisis in one day if they so desired. Otherwise, our companies and jobs are coming back to the USA!” ---Reuters

。The U.S. bears the full responsibility for the collapse of trade talks, according to China’s government, adding that any further discussions need to be based on sincerity, mutual respect and equality. China is willing to work with the U.S. to find solutions, but the latter’s strategy of maximum pressure and escalation can’t force concessions from China, said Vice Commerce Minister Wang Shouwen, who led the working-level team in the negotiations. When you give the U.S. an inch, it takes a yard, he said. ---Bloomberg

。The Federal Reserve is likely to cut interest rates twice this year in response to the impact from President Donald Trump potentially opening a new front in the trade war, according to J.P. Morgan strategists. The firm is the first on Wall Street to catch up to market expectations that the Fed will ease policy aggressively this year amid concerns over a global economic slowdown exacerbated by tariffs. Barclays followed later in the day, calling for two cuts as well but totaling 75 basis points, with a half-point cut happening in September. ---CNBC

。The Dow Jones Transportation Average swooned 10.2% in May, a far steeper decline than that of the Dow Jones Industrial Average or the S&P 500. For analysts who closely watch the transports, this could be a sign of deeper market stress. The transport stock weakness compounds other investor concerns, including that the U.S. trade war with China and other countries will harm the global economy and whether an expected pick-up in U.S. corporate profits will materialize later in the year. The 20 stocks in the Dow transport index, including airlines such as Delta Air Lines, rail operators like Union Pacific Corp and package delivery companies FedEx Corp and United Parcel Service Inc, are “leading indicators of the economy,” said Miller Tabak equity strategist Matt Maley. ---Reuters

。China launches a probe into FedEx (FDX) for allegedly "damaging legitimate rights and interests" of Chinese users by delivering packages to the wrong address, according to Xinhua. ---Seeking Alpha

。The DOJ reportedly is gearing up for a Google antitrust probe, creating a new level of oversight. The European Union has fined Google three times for alleged abuse of its dominance in ad search, shopping and the Android operating system. Now U.S. regulators are taking a more active stance. A Google antitrust probe could inspire Facebook and Amazon investigations, as well as fuel calls for sweeping action. ---Investors Business Daily
