Major US stock market indexes opened higher as bargain hunter came in. This is normal action after a more than 600 point drop on the Dow yesterday. Technically, after dropping below 200 day moving average (25422) on the Dow, this level will likely be retested, same as the 50 day moving averages for S&P 500 (2863) and Nasdaq Composite (7848). It's easier for the Dow to regain 200 day moving average since its very close while it will be difficult for both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite to regain their 50 day moving averages since they are too far from the levels now. Even if the Dow recovers above it's 200 day moving average but it will still be below 50 day moving average. When you have the Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite below their 50 day moving averages, it is still very bearish for the market. The 50 day moving averages will be very strong resistances for these indexes. The US stock market is on a downtrend, strategy is sell on rallies, especially if the Dow fail to hold its 200 day moving average.

。U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday defended his trade war with China as tensions escalated and markets extended their losses, promising a deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping soon, even as fears escalated about a protracted battle. In a string of early-morning tweets, Trump kept up his “America First” agenda in support of hefty tariffs and called on U.S. companies to back him by shifting their businesses away from China. But he also softened his tone on soybeans and other agricultural products, appealing to Beijing to act. “When the time is right we will make a deal with China,” Trump said. “It will all happen, and much faster than people think!”---Reuters

。China’s foreign ministry said on Tuesday that it hopes the United States does not underestimate its determination to protect its interests, even as Washington threatened to extend tariffs to virtually all Chinese imports. Foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang, speaking at a daily briefing, also said both countries agreed to continue pursuing a process of talks to resolve their trade dispute. ---Reuters

。According to Axios, senior administration officials told senior White House reporter Jonathan Swan that a trade deal with China "isn't close" and that the US "could be in for a long trade war." Swans' sources said the differences between the two sides "are so profound taht, based on his read of the situation, he can't see the fight getting resolved before the end of the year." That's a much longer timeline than the three-four weeks Trump touted Monday night, who touted the possibility that the a meeting with President Xi at the G-20 in Japan next month could yield an agreement.---Zero Hedge

。Oil futures shot higher Tuesday amid a new report of attacks on major Saudi facilities, which helped to raise supply concerns and push up prices. The world’s top oil exporter Saudi Arabia said explosive-packed drones attacked two pumping stations belonging to state oil company Aramco, according to a report from local media and the Associated Press.---Market Watch

。Bitcoin prices continued to march higher on Tuesday, trading through $8,000 for the first time in more than nine months. The price of a single bitcoin BTCUSD, +4.12%  hit an intraday day high around $8,300 and in most recent trade the cryptocurrency was trading at $8,058.90, up 2.5%. The best-known coin has now gained around 120% year-to-date. The surge in the price of digital assets comes as the popular Consensus conference gets underway in New York.  The three-day event that attracts the biggest names in the cryptocurrency and blockchain sphere, where some industry heavyweights use the conference to promote and announce new products and partnerships.--Market Watch

。JPMorgan says Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) would need to raise iPhone prices by 14% to offset the costs of the new US-China tariffs. Bank of America Merrill Lynch thinks Apple would need to increase prices by 20% if it chooses to move manufacturing to the United States. But JPMorgan expects Apple to absorb the cost, which could lower the gross margin by 4%. ---Seeking Alpha

。GF Securities raised  JD.com （JD）to Buy from Accumulate, and raised its target to $37.70 from $33.34 (34% upside). CCB International raised to Outperform from Neutral, and increased its price target to $31.90 from $28.80, implying 13% upside. And BOC International also boosted to Buy from Hold.
