Major stock market indices rallied sharply at the open on optimism of a US-China trade deal. Dow was at one point up more than 300 points. The market has since retraced most of its earlier gain.
Goldman Sachs expects 2019 to be another challenging year for semiconductor companies particularly in the first half of year. Firm is least negative on semiconductor capital equipment companies as the stocks already seem to be pricing in a down turn. Semiconductor sector ETF SMH is now down 1.30%. Other sectors such as biotech, retails and financials are also subject of profit taking after strong rally yesterday and they are also down this morning.

Technically, major market indices rallied pass or near their Fibonacci  50% bounce levels earlier and are now below them. These levels are strong resistances and are being respected. In order for the market to continue its upside move, these levels need to be overcome. These levels are Dow 23856, S&P 500 2573, Nasdaq 6840 and Russell 2000 1461.
