Mid Morning Market Comment 美股中盘评论

Major market indexes have been trading in narrow range since the open. At 10:20AM Pacific Time Here is how they look :Dow -5, S&P 500 +7, Nasdaq +17, Russell 2000 +7.

No particular news is a big driver for US stocks this morning. Morgan Stanley's (MS) worse than expected earning drives its stock down 4.65% and the financial sector ETF XLF down 0.24%. Strong sectors are IBB and IYM and there are no sectors that go down big. Strong stocks in the Dow are BA, NKE and MRK. Weak stocks in the Dow are HD, UNH and VZ.  As far as big Nasdaq stocks are concern, down stocks are AAPL, GOOGL and QCOM  and up stocks are NFLX, AMZN and FB.

S&P 500 is still consolidating below its 50 day moving average at 2628, it is now trading at 2622.
It is consolidating in a bullish fashion. Once it breaks through 2628, its intermediate term trend will turn up. So 2628 level is critical for the S&P 500 and the overall market. If S&P 500 drops below 2600 then a correction may ensue. Netflix (NFLX) reports earning this afternoon, its result may proof to be important.
